Make Your Life His Instrument

I wrote this song in 2014. The first verse praises the Lord. The second verse describes many of the miracles Jesus performed on earth and expresses my conviction that just as He performed those wonderful miracles, He can take our "broken heart and...contrite spirit"(3 Nephi 9:20) and make of us an instrument in His hands to help do His work. The chorus invites all to, "Make your life His instrument, and make Him your song", meaning to do His will and His works so that others "may see your good works and glorify" Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ(Matthew 5:16). As we do so, we can invite all within our influence to come and follow Him and partake of the many blessings that come as we strive to follow the Savior.

Through My Faith He'll Make Me Whole

This song recounts the story in the New Testament of the woman with an issue of blood. Her faith was that if she could touch the Savior's clothes, she would be healed from the plague she had suffered with for 12 years (Mark 5:24–34; Matthew 9:20–22). Each of us also have struggles, whether they be physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual. Sometimes we struggle to know what the best next step is to overcome our challenge, or we lack the confidence to take that step. As we trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and strive to follow Him, He will bless us with the power, direction, and help we need to face our challenges.

He Has Come

This song describes three powerful witnesses of the Savior. The first is described as "only a shepherd". Yet these shepherds were chosen to hear angels proclaim the birth of the Messiah and then followed the invitation to go and "find the babe...lying in a manger" (Luke 2:12). After they had seen Him, they went and "made known abroad" the things they had seen and what the angels had told them concerning the child. The second witness was Peter, who was "a fisherman". He personally witnessed the Savior's miracles, ministry, atoning sacrifice/crucifixion, and resurrection. He spent the rest of his life inviting all to come unto Christ and follow Him. The third witness is from the modern day. They are you and I, who have the opportunity to come to know the Savior through the "words He spoke long ago" in scripture, and through the words he has spoken through his prophets, both ancient and modern. As we come to know Christ, choose to accept Him as our Savior, and follow His gospel, our lives will change for good, and we can add our own personal witness to millions before us that truly, "He has come! Son of God, our Emmanuel!" What will we choose to do with that testimony?
